You are insensitive and greedy for going after Ayensuano seat. NDC youth blast the party’s current national deputy youth organizer , Ruth Seddoh

Democracy is indeed the ultimate positive revolution because it gives every individual of adult suffrage the power to change, control, and direct duty bearers for the common good of the people. But in every multi-party democracy, individual aspirations must always be in sync with their ideological party identity, the very platform on which those individuals would want to stand and advance their political growth

The NDC as a political party must not become just a tool for party executives in actualizing just their dreams, rather, party executives must remain religious to their contracts and promises upon which they were elected to serve.

Barely few weeks ago, Ruth Seddoh told the over one thousand party delegates drawn from the 275 constituencies across the country that they should elect her as a deputy national youth organizer of the party, in order to work for the party and deliver the youth votes

Ten (10) candidates were standing up for the same position but based on the promises that Ruth Seddoh made to party delegates, she found favor in the eyes of these delegates and victory smiled on her. Meaning the party officially gave her a position for specific deliverables and hence the youth votes.

Today, Ruth Seddoh is telling the party that she want to go and contest for a parliamentary seat on the ticket of the same NDC party that had already tasked her to deliver on purpose. An opportunity she had among ten other qualified party members

The problem is not about her decision to contest, but rather the problem is about the particular seat in question and the circumstances surrounding it, Ayensuano constituency in the Eastern region of Ghana.

Who is the current MP occupying the Ayensuano seat? The current MP for the Ayensuano constituency is the Hon. Teddy Addy who is a first timer on the ticket of the NDC. Teddy Addy won the Ayensuano seat for the NDC in 2020 after the the party went 20 clear years without that particular seat. In otherwise, the NPP had occupied that seat for 20 solid years until 2020 when the honorable Teddy Addy reclaimed the seat with a slight margin of victory.

Let’s look at the statistical impressions and how the honorable Teddy Addy fought hard to win that seat for the NDC in the 2020 general election:

1. John Dramani Mahama had 15,823 votes representing 40.39% of the total presidential votes while Nana Akufo Addo garnered 22,915 representing 58.50% of the presidential votes

2. In the parliamentary result, the Hon. Teddy Addy of the NDC had 19,211 votes representing 47.31% while the NPP’s candidate, Ayeh Paye Samuel garnered 18,970 votes representing 46.71%

3. By simple arithmetic, you will establish that 3,388 voters voted for the honorable Teddy Addy but did not vote for John Dramani Mahama, and again, the honorable Teddy Addy won with a slight vote difference of 241 ahead of the NPP candidate

Now I ask, why should a national officer who was elected barely 10 weeks ago and supposed to be working for the party be seen going after that very seat?

What happens to the promises she made to party delegates upon which she was elected into the position of deputy national youth organizer of the party?

I am not a critique of democracy, but I won’t be a participant of political dishonesty in the face of internal party contest. Let us not encourage this culture of self seeking individuals wanting to elevate themselves above party progress and forward movement

The deputy national youth organizer position is not an option but rather a critical department which is expected to galvanize and deliver the youth votes for the party and Ruth Seddoh shouldn’t take that for a ride. By now we are expecting her to lead serious campaign and policy conversations among young female voters and prospective voters in the party’s bid to consolidate our front for clvictory 2024.

The office of party leadership is only subservient to the demands of party folks if only we demand that they respect the very reason why they were elected and this is at the convenience of the party and that is our position.

There’s nothing like a RESCUE MISSION as her mantra would want us to believe. Hon Teddy Addy will retain the seat for the NDC party and we should expect Ruth Seddoh to get to work as the current national deputy youth organizer of the great NDC party.

Comments

  2. Hon. Teddy should continue I love his style of leadership, going deeper to the grassroots. May God continue to protect him and give him good health to lead the party again come 2024. All the best bro.
