Kojo Danquah and Sampson Tagbor |
Earlier this month, two students of the University of Ghana petitioned the School to refund part of their tuition and residential fees paid for the 2019/2020 academic year due to the closure of School amid this COVID-19 pandemic.
These two lead Petitioners are
Samuel Danquah Amaning, first year Master of Public Administration Student of Graduate School and GRASSAG Presidential aspirant and
Sampson Tagbor, a level 300 Student of the Business School and UGSRC Presidential Aspirant 2020.
Yesterday on a Whatsapp platform, a couple of Students asked one of the lead Petitioners why he took that step and the Student Activist and NUGS Student Advocate of the year , Sampson Tagbor replied with this;
I thank God my action is keeping Leadership on it's toes.
In fact when we started this call for a refund, I was lambasted on our official page by the leadership.
The facts and records are there.
Fellow colleague students, I will stand and prove to management that they owe us and even if it is one cedi they owe us, we shall make that course. Look at the difficulties associated with the E-Learning and see students telling their colleagues to be quite on the realities
Those students who says they are counter petitioners can join management to defend the indefensible
I am focused and insisting on the right thing and indeed it’s not a normal time for the students too
In my petition, I have done the calculations and make it so simple for comprehension
Some students haven’t even seen the content of my petition but they are busy writing articles and counter what that have not yet seen, clearly you could see that they are merely acting on assumptions which is the lowest level of knowledge
They can continue to demonstrate how gullible, oblivious and bereft they are of the whole development but that will never obfuscate the right and for that matter a genuine call
Now that the SRC has acknowledged my work and sheepishly recognized my fight and decided to join the call for a refund, let’s see what these so called writers will be writing to them
Let’s see if they will call the SRC
scam alert, a phrase that found grace in a misplaced content but one can understand, things might change after Academic writing II.
Fellow students, Please don’t think your over 2000 cedis paid for the diaspora halls will go just like that, the traditional hall fees won’t go like that, the TF, Bani, Evandy, PENT fees won’t go like that, the medical bills won’t go like that, the field trip bills won’t go just like that, your refundable and a host of other components won’t go just like that.
We shall do the calculations and get what we deserve back, at least it can be a rebate on next academic year school fees
A university that won’t allow students who owe Ghc5 to register must not be allowed to go away with a student’s Ghc1.
To those writers who think they don’t need the money they can tell the school to keep it but surely some of us need it.
Very soon our dear level 400 students are going to be asked to pay graduation fees, at least that partial refund which is a genuine call can suffice
Do your individual analysis and you will appreciate the crust of the issues the more
Indeed we as students too are not in ordinary times
Stay safe and healthy
We will fight together Senior
