UGSRC Election 2021:All you need to know about aspirants.

It's another year in student politics, and students with political aspirations are taking the step to run for office.


Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, majority of tertiary institutions in the country had problems in conducting elections for students to fill various post in the SRC for the 2019/2020 academic year .The Premier University, University of Ghana, was no exception.


The current SRC Electoral Commissioner, Henry Ackon, released the 2021/2022 SRC Executive applications earlier this month for students who will be running for executive posts. 

As of July 6, 2021, fifteen students from the University of Ghana had indicated their desire to run for UGSRC Executive posts. 

Ten of the fifteen were running for the office of President, three for Secretary, and two for Treasurer.


According to information provided to Kendave by the Electoral Commissioner as of today, July 18,2021, all aspirants for Treasurer and Secretary had picked forms. 

It is critical to understand the conditions stated in the EC's announcement for aspirants to the post of President. He stated that, in order to run for President, a candidate must have a running mate.


Four Students are said to have picked  forms for the office of President. As a result, eight of the ten presidential aspirants


Who unites who among these ten aspirants? 

These are the possible pairs, according to the data made available to kendavenewsroom by their on-the-ground researchers.

Samuel Amos Ofosu as President and Alfred Acquah as Vice President


2. Prince Asumadu as President and Wisdom Ndukwe as Vice President




3.Priscilla Asantewaa Ayeh as President and Henry Nii Adjiri Quarcoopome as Vice President 



4.Felix Tawiah Ayittey as President and Paul Andam as Vice President 



5.Eugene Esah-Gyima as President and Robertson Adialey Vice President 


Could they be possible pairings? 

Who of these has roots and who has the backing of UG-TESCON, UG-TEIN, or both?


Other stakeholders from two of the four strong parties want Samuel Amos Ofosu and Prince Asumadu to be paired. 

Who will comprehend to be the running mate if this pair is possible?


Let us wait and see what happens in the coming days as we await the Electoral Commissioner's final pairs.
