But in every multi-party democracy, individual aspirations must always be in sync with their ideological party identity, the very platform on which those individuals would want to stand and advance their political growth  The NDC as a political party must not become just a tool for party executives in actualizing just their dreams, rather, party executives must remain religious to their contracts and promises upon which they were elected to serve. Barely few weeks ago, Ruth Seddoh told the over one thousand party delegates drawn from the 275 constituencies across the country that they should elect her as a deputy national youth organizer of the party, in order to work for the party and deliver the youth votes  Ten (10) candidates were standing up f

NUGS advocates Dubai scholarships, exchange programs for Ghanaian students

Ghana's Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ahmed Ramadan, has been asked by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) to establish scholarships and exchange programs for Ghanaian students who aspire to pursue higher studies in Dubai.

Following their participation in the ongoing World Majlis Conference at the Expo 2020 in the country, a delegation led by the Union's Secretary for International Affairs, Pius Baidoo, and Secretary for Women's Development, Ohemaa Bediako, made a courtesy call on the Ambassador.

The Union thinks that the exchange programs will provide Ghanaian students with an enriching academic, professional, and personal experience, as well as the opportunity to exchange ideas with their UAE counterparts.

They want to make Ghana a tourist destination for international students, among other things, through assisting Ghana's tourism and commercial earnings.

During the meeting with the Ambassador, a case was made for NUGS and the embassy working together to allow students from Dubai to visit Ghana for tourism purposes.

Mr. Ahmed Ramadan, for his part, stated that, while existing scholarship programs exist, he will evaluate the Union's recommendations to expand them.

"They [UAE] provide a variety of scholarships, both private and government-sponsored. Some Ghanaian students at Sharjah University, for example, get state-funded scholarships."

"There is already an exchange program between New York University in the UAE and their Ghana campus; however, the NUGS plan will strive to expand it," he assured.

The Ambassador advised anybody who wished to participate in the event to do so.To avoid being stuck, the Ambassador advised visitors to obtain reliable information from their diplomatic missions or embassies. A group of roughly 50 Ghanaian students is now in Dubai for the World Majlis conference.

The World Expo 2020, which began in October 2021 and will end on March 31, 2022, is projected to be a huge success. The event was originally slated for October 20, 2020, to April 10, 2021, but was postponed owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
